On Wednesday 26 September 2012, staff in the Melbourne Contact Centre of one of the leading health insurers in Australia – Bupa – made a difference to the lives of marginalized cancer patients in Zimbabwe.
Bupa Australia is a health insurance fund serving over 3 million Australians nationwide. Not only does it provide health insurance, it also provides travel, home, life and car insurance plus a range of health-related offerings such as health phone coaching. Its charitable arm, the Bupa Health Foundation, is committed to ensuring the sustainability of affordable healthcare to Australians.
Staff in the Melbourne Contact Centre took part in fundraising for the ECCT Sponsor a Cancer Patient Campaign 2013, by baking and bringing in goodies to share with each other throughout their work day. In order for one to sample the decadent delights, staff had to donate a gold coin. Despite some mild concerns about slimmer waists, the goodies were very popular!
Staff raised $86.85 – an amount which can pay for annual school fees, for one of the children of the cancer patients the ECCT is supporting.
Bupa…we thank you for taking such a worthwhile part in the lives of marginalized cancer patients and their families.
