Melbourne Marathon 2012: Good Luck To All Our Runners Tomorrow!

The World Famous ‘G’ (photographed today as we collected our race numbers).

The day has finally arrived! On Sunday 14 October 2012, 5 Zimbabweans based in Australia are running through the streets of Melbourne and finishing off at the world famous Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) as part of the Melbourne Marathon Festival 2012. They are all running to support marginalized cancer patients in Zimbabwe and are all based in various cities in Australia: Teurai Chanakira, ECCT Founder (Melbourne), Tamara Banda (Melbourne), Taziona Banda (Melbourne), Terance Makoni (Cairns) and Martin Bibi (Sydney).

Between them they have raised approximately $1500 for the ECCT patients, with the money going to food, medications, Dr’s visits and school fees for some of the children. Terance Makoni has raised the most, having nearly doubled his target amount to reach a total amount of $900.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who have donated to our cause and who are making a positive difference in the lives of these patients. This is not an exhaustive list as some sponsors would like to remain anonymous.

Thank you to: Teresa Martin; Peggy Chigeza; Lisa Flemming; Lydia Zambon; Sonia Harrington; Karen Lomas; Vanessa Leon; Ella Rene; Christine Foudoulis; Mia Huddleston; Max Lazarrin; John Vidafar; Ali Sayed; Bupa Australia; Rose Makoni; Wendy Issaka; Manik Sharma, Nyarie Matebwe and every single person who supported us.

We will be posting pics of the day tomorrow so keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter pages!!
