On Sunday 14 October 2012, 5 Zimbabweans ran in various races in the Melbourne Marathon Festival 2012 to support the marginalized cancer patients which the ECCT assists. We are happy to let you know that they all did extremely well in their various races and below are some images from the exciting day. In total, they raised AUSD $1935.

All of the runners agreed that it was one of the most amazing and memorable things that they ever did. It was an unforgettable experience to run for something beyond yourself. Remember also that preparing for the race took discipline and dedication, with all the runners taking up regular training from months before and adjusting their diets to healthier choices. The only complaint was the weight loss which they all experienced – with some losing over 5 unintended kilograms.

Here’s how well each individual did in their race:

Terance Makoni: participated in the half marathon (21.1km) and finished in 1 hour 38 minutes.

Martin Bibi: participated in the half marathon (21.1km) and finished in 1 hour 43 minutes.

Tamara Banda: participated in the 10km and finished in 59 minutes.

Teurai Chanakira: participated in the 10km and finished in 1 hour 8 minutes.

Taziona Banda: participated in the 5.7km and finished in 45 minutes.
