Since January 2013 – we started fully supporting five marginalized cancer patients with food, some of their medical costs, school fees for some of their children and other essential items such as clothing and blankets. You can read more detail about the Sponsor a Cancer Patient Campaign by clicking here. We are so excited that since October 2012, we were able to provide them with monthly food hampers from Probrands. Sadly, the Probrands sponsorship ended due to their limited resources a few months ago.

We have however, been happy to see three of the children of the cancer patients, and the sister of one of the patients, return to school after being stuck at home because all the patients had used all their finances on the expensive cancer treatment. Furthermore, a large cancerous jaw mass was removed from the face of one of our patients – Virimayi – in May 2013. He is recovering well and now walking. You can read his story by clicking here.

Over the weekend, our Project Manager, Marshall Mutsamwira journeyed to visit the Hatcliffe-based patients and their families. In the last week, we have also been paying the school fees for the current third term for the children. Please see our latest update in pictures below.

*We continue to need to support these patients. During the weekend of 11 to 13 October 2013, in Melbourne, Australia we will hold two exciting events – with one of them being a run in the Melbourne Marathon Festival 2013. Details of the event to be held on Friday 11 October 2013 will follow shortly. Thank you for your support!
