Ever since we launched the Sponsor a Cancer Patient Campaign at the beginning of 2013, we have been on a mission to help the five marginalized cancer patients we support so far with nutrition, some of their medical costs and school fees for their children. We have had a great year so far with Probrands Foods, Zimbabwe donating monthly hampers for eight months since October 2012; we have paid for the costs of a major operation for one of our patient’s – Virimayi – to have his cancerous jaw mass removed – and we have seen four children return to school.
In the last week, we have had another happy story: a Zimbabwean-born donor based in the USA – Hazvinei Ngoshi – has sponsored two years of school fees for George – the son of Sarah, one of our patients – who attends Chakadini Secondary School in Marondera, Zimbabwe. In addition to that Hazvinei has assisted with buying George a bicycle to transport him to and from school as he was walking at least 10km everyday.
Furthermore, she has assisted with buying an asthma pump and the appropriate asthma medication for Sarah who also suffers from asthma. Hazvinei – we salute your kindness…thank you!!
We are also happy to have fundraised to be able to see the son of Sipelile, another one of our patients – Tafadzwa (pictured above) – return to school again this term. It has been an amazing year so far and we cannot have done it without your support everyone – we thank you so very much!!
